My good friend Elizabeth Erickson, whom I have attended church and been on leadership teams with, came to me and asked if I would create a new website for her. She was really refocusing and developing her new brand. She wanted something that was “more her”. While in one of our meetings she pulled up this textured image on her Mac to show me and said, “Can you develop my brand off of this?”.
I took that texture and found others that would play well together in the same sandbox. The colors came from the texture file – an orange, brown, and green. They were perfect for bring some vibrancy to a site that could have been boring browns and tans. The photography really helps to bring life to the site and showcase exactly what you can get from this photography.
On her Portfolio section, I created some custom icons for the main categories of photography she provides – Weddings, Engagements and Portraits. In addition to iconography, Elizabeth wanted to showcase her portfolio is a different way. Previously, she was limited by her WordPress theme; which forced her to display her work as thumbnails allowing the user to click and view a larger version. Instead we created one standard size, removing the need to view each individual photo at a larger size. Now you can scroll manually left to right or just watch as it automatically slides through the rotation.
